Purvanchal Vidyut Vitaran Nigam Limited having its headquarters at Varanasi is a co-successor of Uttar Pradesh Power Corporation Limited aimed for distribution of Electric Power in Eastern area of U.P. Since its inception in 5 July 2003, PuVVNL has made a long way in the service of approx 1.04 Crore consumers in Eastern U.P. which equates to a population of 7.0 Cr across 21 districts of Uttar Pradesh including 92.5 lakh (89%) domestic, 6.18 lakh (6%) commercial, 36.34 thousand industrial (0.35%) & 5.1 lakh other consumers (5%).
Ensuring electricity supply as per schedule to consumers is always the top most priority of the UP Government. Continuous monitoring through dedicated control room, addressal of complains received to 1912 call Centre and Operation & maintenance of 1135 substation & power infrastructure of 20923 CKM 33KV line, 190330 CKM 11KV line, 2,72,185 CKM LT line, 688649 distribution transformers transformer are done to achieve the task of reliable supply.
The geographical area of PuVVNL covers the districts of Varanasi, Ghazipur, Chandauli, Jaunpur, Sant Ravidas Nagar (Bhadohi), Mirzapur, Sonbhadra, Mau, Azamgarh, Ballia, Deoria, Kushi Nagar, Gorakhpur, Maharajganj, SantKabirNagar, Basti, SiddharthNagar, Prayagraj, Pratapgarh, Fatehpur and Kaushambi.
In addition to above, PuVVNL has been contributing greatly in the successful conduct of Magh Mela/Kumbh Mela in Prayagraj. We have been ensuring uninterrupted power supply in sites of religious importance like Kashi Vishwanath Dham, Maa Vindhyachal Dham etc.

PuVVNL will be professionally managed utility supplying reliable and cost-efficient electricity to every consumer of the Discom through highly motivated employees and state of art technologies, providing an economic return to our owners and maintaining leadership in the country.
We shall achieve this being a dynamic, forward looking, reliable, safe and trustworthy organization, sensitive to our customers interests, profitable and sustainable in the long run, providing uninterrupted supply of quality power, with transparency and integrity in operation.
Our goal is to
- Provide cost efficient good quality electricity to all categories of consumers for economic development/social uplift of the State.
- Make the discom commercially viable so that it ceases to be burden on the state budget and
- Protect the investment of the consumers
Achievement
The government of India has approved the Revamped Distribution Sector Scheme (RDSS) to help DISCOMs improve their operational efficiencies and financial sustainability by providing result-linked financial assistance to DISCOMs to strengthen supply infrastructure based on meeting pre-qualifying criteria and achieving basic minimum benchmarks. 60% Supply work & 44% erection work has been completed which includes erection of 4,56,793 Nos 8.5 Mtr Pole, 24652.3 CKms LT AB Cables, 5719.2 CKM augmentation of 11KV lines, 243.0 CKM augmentation of 33 KV lines & 3057.5CKM feeder Segregation work. Discom has earned Rs 17.67 Cr as rebate from the bills of TKCs on releasing payment within 10 days from submission of invoice. PuVVNL’s performance was at top among all discoms in execution of this scheme. Discom has met the RDSS target of AT&C loss reduction & ACS-ARR gap.
One-Time Settlement (OTS) scheme in UPPCL was a special initiative of GoUP to help consumers to clear their outstanding electricity dues after waiver of upto 100% of Late payment surcharge (LPSC) & settlement of electricity theft cases (U/s 135 of EA) with a payment of upto 35% of revenue assessment. The scheme was applicable to LMV-I (domestic), LMV-II (Commercial), LMV-4B (Private institutions), LMV-5(PTW) & LMV-6 (Industrial) consumers. This Scheme was used as an opportunity to boost the revenue performance of PuVVNL, resulting in realization of approx. 1855 Cr. from 20.46 lakh consumers. Realization of Raid Assessment was also prioritized which resulted in approx. 18.82 Cr. realization from raids in Current FY and approx. Rs 101 Cr. from backlog Assessments under Theft OTS scheme.
